A 1-1 draw away against Everton then a 1-0 win at home to Crystal Palace is by no means a disastrous start to the season for Tottenham, but it's clear they haven't shifted out of first gear yet.

Neither have their English poster-boy attackers Harry Kane and Dele Alli.

Free-scoring and swashbuckling for large chunks of last season, it seems as if the duo haven't shaken off the ineffectiveness Roy Hodgson instilled in them while on England national team duty at EURO 2016.

Mousa Dembele's influence in the middle of the park is clearly being missed while he serves his suspension carried over from last season for scratching Diego Costa's eye, as is captain Hugo Lloris' presence in goal - both will miss this match too.

New $30 million signing Vincent Janssen has endeared himself to Spurs fans with his impressive work rate, but the Dutch striker will be keen most of all to open his goalscoring account in the league as soon as possible.

Honestly, who knows what to expect from Liverpool in this match.

Their ability seems to fluctuate massively week to week, and the only consistent thing about them is their unpredictability.

Much was made of their 2-0 loss to Burnley in the Premier League last week, and their inability to break down the promoted side despite having 80% possession.

Alberto Moreno was singled out for special criticism, while Philippe Coutinho continues to frustrate as he yo-yos between dazzling and anonymous.

Loris Karius is out with a long-term injury, while Mamadou Sakho, Lucas Leiva, and Emre Can are doubts for this match.
