Ex-Arsenal midfielder Flamini linked with Brisbane Roar move

Former Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini is reportedly on the verge of joining three-time A-League champions Brisbane Roar.

Fox Sports report the Roar are in advanced talks with the Frenchman over a deal that would send a message of intent to the rest of the A-League competition ahead of the 2018-19 season.

The 34-year-old spent seven seasons across two stints with the Gunners, either side of a successful five-year stay with Serie A giants AC Milan, and would fill the vacant marquee spot left by the departure of 38-year-old striker Massimo Maccarone.

An energetic, ball-winning central midfielder who spent last season with La Liga outfit Getafe, Flamini's presence would add world-class experience to John Aloisi's revamped midfield and the A-League as a whole.

Unlike Sydney FC's failed attempt to sign Fernando Torres, money does not appear to be an issue for the former France international, who is believed to be the world's richest footballer after co-founding a biochemical company named GF Biochemicals.
