Neill broke the Liverpool's defender leg with a shocking tackle in September 2003 when Blackburn hosted Liverpool.

Carragher later revealed in his autobiography that he nearly had his friends attack Neill in retaliation when they ran into the Australian defender in a shopping centre.

Neill apologised publicly in the days after the tackle, as Carragher was out of action for six months.

The tackle was number seven on The Daily Mail's list, with Carragher's own shocker on Manchester United's Nani coming in at nine.

Former Tottenham Hotspur, Fulham and Wigan midfielder Michael Brown appeared twice on the list, while Roy Keane topped the chart with his horrible career-ending tackle on Manchester City's Alf-Inge Haaland.

The former Manchester United midfield general explain in his 2014 book that he wanted to hurt the Norwegian but not injure him.

"(Haaland) pissed me off, shooting his mouth off. He was an absolute prick to play against. Niggling, sneaky. I did want to nail him and let him know what was happening," Keane wrote.

"I wanted to hurt him and stand over him and go: ‘Take that, you c***.’ I don’t regret that. But I had no wish to injure him.
