EXCLUSIVE: Aloisi stays with Roar after agreeing to new deal

Brisbane Roar have received a huge boost going into the A-League finals series, with coach John Aloisi agreeing terms over a new contract.

Aloisi, whose future has been the subject of much speculation as several suitors circled, has nailed down an agreement with the club's hierarchy for at least two more seasons.

His agent, London-based Frank Trimboli arrived in Sydney to finalise negotiations with Roar managing director Mark Kingsman ahead of last week's World Cup qualifier between Australia and United Arab Emirates.

And Trimboli confirmed on Friday night that an agreement had been struck, with only the formality of signing the contract yet to be concluded.

An official announcement from the club is imminent - with the deal keeping the double act between Aloisi and his assistant coach and brother Ross intact.

"It's correct to say that following our talks with Mark Kingsman in Sydney that John has agreed terms for a new contract," said Trimboli.

"It's only now the matter of signing (the contract)... all the agreements are certainly in place."

Aloisi had been linked with a return to hometown club Adelaide United, but steadfastly denied that prospect was ever on the agenda.

It's understood he would have extended his deal sooner with the third-placed Roar - who are away to Perth Glory today in the penultimate round of the regular season - but for certain guarantees from the owning Bakrie Group over their long-term commitment to the club.

The Indonesian conglomerate have struggled to maintain their financial obligations to the Roar over the past 18 months, but a recent meeting between Aloisi and Aga Bakrie - son of owner Nirwan Bakrie - looks to have assuaged any lingering concerns.
