FC Utrecht win at Cambuur to go fifth in the table

FC Utrecht strengthened their pursuit of European football with a 2-0 Eredivisie victory at relegation-threatened Cambuur.

With a draw looking likely, defender Marc van der Maarel gave them the lead in the 79th minute with a routine, close-range header, and Sebastian Haller secured all three points with their second goal eight minutes later.

The result, which ended Utrecht's run of three straight defeats, leaves them fifth with 35 points. Cambuur sit 17th, just a point off the bottom.
