FFA invite fans to relive Socceroos' stunning victory over England

Football Federation Australia have provided fans the chance to relive the night the Socceroos defeated England back in 2003.

With domestic football postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, Australian football's governing body are doing their part to keep the public entertained.

The 'A' international saw the Socceroos stun a star-studded England side 3-1 in front of over 30,000 supporters at Upton Park in London.

Goals from Tony Popovic, Harry Kewell and Brett Emerton helped cement a memorable night for the country and FFA chief executive James Johnson was delighted to relive it once again.

"The England-Australia match was requested by many supporters after we played the Australia-Uruguay thriller, and I am pleased that our team has been able to gain the relevant permissions to make this Tuesday’s activity happen," Johnson said.

"We would also like to acknowledge the Football Association (FA) in England for assisting FFA with this initiative, demonstrating the power of football to bring us all together.

"The England-Australia game will underpin another content-rich week across the FFA network, with three memorable Hyundai A-League Grand Finals of yesteryear also being featured across the Hyundai A-League’s digital platforms.

"I would like to thank and congratulate the football community for doing a brilliant job of staying connected and engaged with the game during these difficult times.

"It is important that we all continue to remain positive and optimistic, and we are excited to be able to relive these wonderful moments together."
