The pair became an item in 2011 after they were introduced by fellow South African Daryl Impey who now rides for Australian team Orica-GreenEDGE.

Froome took to Twitter to post pictures from the wedding and to say he felt like the "luckiest man alive".

The 2013 Tour de France champion proposed to Cound at last year's Milan-San Remo, where he was a spectator.

Previously a cycling photographer, Cound now manages Froome's commercial affairs and has in the past been a fierce defender of her new husband in several notorious exchanges on Twitter.

After the honeymoon Foome will travel to Tasmania where he will join Australian cycling roomie Richie Porte for the Stan Siejka Launceston Cycling Classic.
