Fuglsang fractured but not broken

Jakob Fuglsang will continue racing the Tour de France despite fracturing two bones in a crash on stage 11 that also felled and forced the abandonment of Astana teammate Dario Cataldo.

The 2017 Criterium du Dauphine winner fractured a left scaphoid - the wrist for those playing at home - and the head of the radius of the left elbow, some 83 kilometres from the finish.

The team announcement emphasised the fractures were "very small" and that Fuglsang, who sits one minute 37 seconds behind Froome on general classification will continue to race.

Catalado too fractured a left scaphoid but was not able to continue to Pau, leaving Fabio Aru, himself just 18 seconds behind Froome, one-man down as the race hits the possibly decisive Pyrenees.

Romain Bardet (AG2R) also crashed during the feed zone but without real damage.
