Gerrard again comes up short here, despite his heroics in the 2006 FA Cup final. His stunning 30-yard strike rescued Liverpool from defeat against West Ham United and the Reds prevailed on penalties. That added to his first success in in 2001, when Michael Owen scored twice to see off Arsenal. Both finals took place at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium.
All of Lampard's successes came at the new Wembley, as Chelsea won the competition four times in six years. Lampard played all 120 minutes as Chelsea beat Manchester United after extra-time in 2007 and then scored the winner against Everton in 2009. Lampard again played every minute the following year in a 1-0 success over Portsmouth and claimed his fourth medal by defeating Gerrard's Liverpool in 2012.

Lampard's first came in 2005 as Chelsea once again beat Liverpool in a final, and the Blues won another two years later against Arsenal.
However, Gerrard finally got his hands on a trophy at Wembley as Liverpool beat Cardiff on spot-kicks in 2012. Gerrard missed his but cousin Anthony Gerrard missed the decisive one for the Bluebirds.

Lampard eventually reached - and scored - in a Champions League final in 2008 before his side was beaten on penalties by Manchester United. But Lampard was not to be denied in 2012 as he captained the Blues to a shock shootout victory over Bayern Munich.
