Degenkolb made a successful return from serious injuries sustained in an accident with a motor vehicle, and the team will again look to the German on those stages with punchy finishes.

French climber Barguil, who finished 14th in his Tour debut last year, will be looking to take another step forward in his long-term development and will aim to push into the top-ten.

“Our goals will be to go for a stage victory, as we see several opportunities to achieve that, and also to explore our possibilities in the GC with Warren, sport director Aike Visbeek said.

"We have made a long-term plan with him, aiming to develop his general classification performance over the next few years.

"This will be his second appearance in his home Grand Tour, and we believe a top-15 is again a realistic target for him."

Focussing on winning the time trial at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games Tom Dumoulin will use the Tour as preparation while hunting for a stage victory.

Simon Geschke (GER), who claimed a highly emotional victory on stage 17 of the 2015 race, will also be lining up for his fourth Grande Boucle.

Supporting team efforts will be road captain Roy Curvers (NED) and lead-out men Ramon Sinkeldam (NED), Albert Timmer (NED) and Laurens ten Dam (NED.

“We have a great blend of experience and youth in our lineup," Visbeek said. "This year’s Tour de France offers more opportunities in the mountains, with some tough stages, and we took that into consideration when we made our final selection."
