Glory shot-stopper Duncan primed to sign for Danish club

Perth Glory back-up goalkeeper Jack Duncan has agreed terms with Danish outfit Randers and is all set to join the high-flier for next season.

With Glory prepared to release the Australia Under-23 international, Duncan will head to Europe as the understudy to Swede Karl-Johan Johnsson, who has been earmarked as a possible successor to Mat Ryan at Club Brugge.

Ryan actually came close to joining Randers himself two years ago before opting for Brugge, where he has been a sensation and is now rated as the most accomplished goalkeeper in in the country.

Duncan impressed ex-England defender and Randers coach Colin Todd, as well as sporting director Peter Christensen during a two-week trial back in January.

He will join a club pushing for a UEFA Europa league spot as it sits eight points off the lead in the Danish Superliga with five matches remaining.

He made just one senior appearance for Glory last season as cover for the imperious Danny Vukovic, while turning out six times the previous season.

It was clear to coach Kenny Lowe on his return from Denmark that Duncan would relish the chance to try his luck at Randers if the opportunity arose.

It’s understood that the 22 year-old, who is off contract in Perth, is earmarked sign a multi-year contract.

Duncan was a part of the Olyroos side which last month secured a spot at next year’s AFC Asian Under-23 Championship, which doubles as the final stage of qualifiers for the 2016 Olympic Games football tournament.
