Guarnier grabs first honours at women's ATOC

Megan Guarnier (Boels-Dolemans) claimed Stage 1 of the women's Amgen Tour of California ahead of Emma Johansson (Wiggle High5) and Kristin Armstrong (Twenty16-Ridebiker).

Sarah Storey (Podium Ambition-Club La Santa) led for the majority of the 117km stage in and around South Lake Tahoe but was caught with the finish in sight. 

Guarnier leads the event by a narrow 10 seconds with three stages still to be decided.
