SBS is the home of the FIFA World Cup 26ᵀᴹ in Australia

The FIFA World Cup 26ᵀᴹ kicks off on June 12 (AEST) - with the tournament opener between Mexico and South Africa, kicking off at 5am (AEST) - and will be an exclusive broadcast on SBS in Australia.

All 104 games from host nations the United States, Canada and Mexico will be shown live and free, with games also shown live on SBS VICELAND.

Australia, nicknamed 'The Socceroos', will have their fixtures shown live on SBS and are also available via SBS On Demand live streaming.

When does the Socceroos' FIFA World Cup 26ᵀᴹ campaign start?

Australia will kick off their World Cup participation on Sunday, June 14 (AEST) as they meet the UEFA qualifier, yet to be determined from a play-off featuring Slovakia, Kosovo, Turkiye and Romania.

The FIFA World Cup 26ᵀᴹ kicks off on June 12 (AEST) with the opening game between Mexico and South Africa at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.

The 2026 World Cup final will be held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on July 20 - with kick off at 5am (AEST).

The tournament in North America will be the biggest FIFA World Cup™ ever and an exclusive broadcast of all 104 games live and free on SBS in Australia.

FIFA World Cup 26ᵀᴹ Dates and Times

The opening ceremony precedes the clash to open the tournament between co-hosts Mexico and South Africa on June 12 (AEST).

The group stage continues until the final match in Group L on June 28 (AEST).

  • Round of 32: June 29 - July 4
  • Round of 16: July 5 - 8
  • Quarter-Finals: July 10 - 12
  • Semi-Finals: July 15 - 16
  • 3rd vs 4th playoff: July 19
  • World Cup Final: July 20
