When is the broadcast of each session of the 2026 World Figure Skating Championships?
From March 25 to March 30 (all times AEDT), Prague’s O2 arena will become the focus of the figure skating world in March 2026 as the world championships come to town. Fresh off the highs of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, some skaters will come will scores to settle, while others will look to continue the high at the biggest annual event for the sport.
Aussies in action
If you're a newcomer to figure skating, or want to find out more about some of the top Australian figure skaters, Holly Harris & Jason Chan, Anastasia Golubeva & Hektor Giotopoulos-Moore, check out our Explaining Figure Skating series on SBS On Demand.
Harris & Chan are fresh off Australia's best-ever performance in the ice dance at the Olympics and after a season off the ISU Grand Prix circuit, they'll be looking to show that they belong in the top events on a regular basis.
Golubeva & Giotopoulos-Moore had a rough 2025-26 season with nationality problems and injury issues plaguing their preparation. They've been steadily improving performance by performance and will want to show that their nearing their best again, which has seen them in the top 10 of the pairs in the world championships in the past three years.
Top competitors take to the ice
The top international names in the sport are already confirmed for competition, with Ilia Malinin looking to atone for the performance that took him off the podium in the free skate at the Olympics.
Sakamoto Kaori will sign off from figure skating with her last performance before retirement, in a career that has seen her grace the top of the women's scene.
Most of the recent Olympic gold medallists will compete, as well as the reigning world champions: Alysa Liu (Olympic and World Champion), Ilia Malinin (World Champion), Madison Chock & Evan Bates (World Champions), Miura Riku & Kihara Ryuichi (Olympic and World Champions).
Mikhail Shaidorov (Olympic Champion), and Guilaume Cizeron & Laurence Fornier Beaudry (Olympic Champion) are not confirmed yet, with Kazakhstan and France yet to announce their final selections for the event.
