Illness forces Froome out of Tirenno-Adriatico

Chris Froome, the 2013 Tour de France winner, has been forced out of the Tirreno-Adriatico stage race due to a lung infection.

The 29-year-old had been due to go up against top Tour de France rivals Alberto Contador (Tinkoff-Saxo), Vincenzo Nibali (Astana) and Natro Quintana (Movistar) in the week-long Italian race, which starts on Wednesday.

Kanstantsin Siutsou replaces Froome on the Sky roster for Tirreno-Adriatico, joining Vasil Kiryienka, Leopold Konig, Mikel Nieve, Wout Poels, Salvatore Puccio, Kanstantsin Siutsou, Ian Stannard and Elia Viviani.
