17,463 home fans had their party spoiled by Colombia, who struck through Ivan Angulo in the first half and then Luis Sandoval securing the win in injury-time.

Ecuador took the lead just before half-time thanks to an own-goal from Kyosuke Tagawa. Japan managed to turn the game around when goalkeeper Tomoya Wakahara managed to save a penalty before Kota Yamada equalised in the 68th minute.
