It’s bye-bye Bobo as Mierzejewski seeks to join Sydney exodus

Unsettled Sydney FC marksman Bobo is likely to join Turkish Super Lig side Alanyaspor for pre-season next week, as his shock A-League exit begins to look like a fait accompli.

The 33-year-old Brazilian has been offered an increase on his $1 million Sydney salary and, most crucially, a two-season deal.

That’s a year more than the one season triggered by the Sky Blues after his 27-goal golden boot winning season for the A-League premiers.

A token transfer fee may be involved but it’s understood Sydney will not stand in the way of Bobo’s return to Turkey, where he holds the honour of being Besiktas’ all-time leading scorer after five years with the Istanbul heavyweights.

His 42 goals in 55 appearances for Sydney are testament to the impact he’s made at Moore Park.

Another headache for new coach Steve Corica, and CEO Danny Townsend, is the determination of Johnny Warren Medallist Adrian Mierzejewski to win a release from the final two years of his three-season contract, amid interest from the Middle East.

The clearly aggrieved midfielder, 31, hinted at a contractual dispute between himself and the Sky Blues on Twitter last week, saying: “Another week passed and I am even more disappointed instead of being closer to solve [the] situation.

“If someone is interested ... on 9th of July I am in Sydney ready to tell [the] whole true story. As adults shouldn't we respect our promises?"

It’s believed the ex-Polish international has already given up his Sydney apartment, with his wife already now based in Dubai.

It’s been mooted that Bobo’s impending exit would free up funds to raise Mierzejewski’s outside-the-cap wages to marquee level.

But Corica, who already has fellow midfielder Milos Ninkovic tied to a marquee contract, is more interested in bringing in a new marquee striker to fill the void Bobo’s exit would leave.

Townsend was reluctant to comment on either player’s future, saying only: “There’s plenty going on with lots of players at this time of year, including new signings, so no comment on any specifics.”
