SBS The World Game understands Golec has left Malaysian side Perak FA and has been training with the competition’s latest franchise.
It is believed the 30-year-old will likely pen a deal with Ante Milicic’s side in the next fortnight.
Golec is well known to A-League fans after spells at Sydney FC, Adelaide United, Western Sydney Wanderers, Perth Glory, Central Coast Mariners and Wellington Phoenix.
Macarthur FC will be the centre back’s seventh A-League club.
Sydney-born Golec started his career with Sydney United and was a member of Sydney FC’s inaugural National Youth League squad in 2008.
He made his A-League debut for the Sky Blues that year, and made 10 appearances for the club before joining Adelaide.
The defender spent three years with the Reds before moving to the Wanderers in 2014.
He helped the club win the Asian Champions League before departing for Perth Glory in 2015.
The following year Golec moved overseas with spells in Moldova, Iran and Korea. In 2017 he returned to Australia to sign for the Mariners.
In January 2019 he joined the Phoenix for a six-month stint, before heading to Indonesia with Badak Lampung.
At the start of this year, he joined Malaysian Super League side Perak.
So far Macarthur FC have signed 17 players for their debut season, including former Socceroos Adam Federici, Tommy Oar and Mark Milligan.
