After only six months in the Hunter, Newcastle agreed to release Flores from the remainder of his deal with the club after he was offered a long-term contract abroad, reportedly from North American Soccer League side Jacksonville Armada.

Despite the reported interest, it is understood Flores is still a free agent.

“Marcos has worked hard to get himself fit and back in contention for the first team, but the offer he has received from overseas gives him security so in the best interests of the player we have decided to grant this release," Jets coach Phil Stubbins said.

"Marcos is a passionate and proud footballer and everyone at the club wishes him all the success in his next move."

Flores praised the A-League club for allowing him to move.

“I will always be grateful to Newcastle Jets for believing in me during the most difficult time of my career. I have nothing but love and respect for the club, fans and staff and I will never forget the opportunity Newcastle Jets gave me.” the Argentine said.

“I will leave Newcastle Jets with great respect. I want to thank every member and supporter at the Newcastle Jets that showed faith in me and this is something I will always have in my heart”.

Flores made six appearances and scored one goal during his time at the Jets.
