Matildas return home for two-game series against Chile

The Matildas will return to home soil for the first time since the 2019 Women's World Cup after locking in a two-game series against Chile this November.

The first match will take place at Bankwest Stadium in Parramatta on Saturday November 9 followed by a clash at Adelaide's Coopers Stadium three days later on November 12.

The fixtures will be a chance for the Matildas to come together before their qualification campaign for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics gets underway in January.

Australia's clash at Bankwest Stadium will be the first international football match held at the newly built arena which could be a major venue in the bid to bring the 2023 Women's World Cup Down Under.

A full-strength Matildas side is expected to be named for the matches which will take place during the middle of the 2019/20 W-League season

It will be the second trip two Australia in 12 months for Chile who took on the Matildas in Newcastle and Penrith last November.

Chile stunned Australia in the first match at Panthers Stadium winning 3-2, but the Matildas turned it around with a dominant 5-0 win at McDonald Jones Stadium a few days later.

Australia will join China, Taiwan, Myanmar, North Korea, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam for one of the two remaining spots from Asia for next year's women's football tournament at the Olympics, with Japan already qualified as hosts.
