Nogarotto to step down from FFA Board

Two members of the Football Federation Australia board are due to face an election next month with sources confirming that director Remo Nogarotto will not be running for re-election, as his three-year term comes to an end.

The FFA Congress, comprised of the Women’s Council, Professional Footballers Australia, the A-League clubs and nine Member Federations will convene at the Annual General Meeting on the 25th of November and will also consider the future of Chairman, Chris Nikou.

It is understood that Nikou has the backing of voting members and will be re-elected.

A source revealed that Nogarotto believes he has failed to attract support from the nine-member federations who account for 51% of the Congress, with the states and territories reportedly putting forward long-time football administrator, Stefan Kamasz as their nominee.

Kamasz, an FFA Hall of Fame inductee, has previously held positions with Football NSW, Sydney FC and the National Soccer League.

Nogarotto, who was appointed to the FFA Board in November, 2018, has overseen the National Second Division Working Group and the Football Heritage Committee as Chairperson, contributed to the New Leagues Working Group and sat on the selection panel which appointed Tony Gustavsson as Matildas coach.

The former Soccer Australia Chairman was also former chairman of National Soccer League clubs Marconi, Northern Spirit and a director of Newcastle Jets.

Away from football, Nogarotto served as a senior advisor to the NSW Liberal Party and is currently the managing director of advisory firm Crosby Textor.ag
