The round will be staged at Cambridge's new velodrome from December 4-6, one of three World Cup events which are the key qualifiers for next year's world championships in London.
The world championships in turn are a vital qualifying event and shakedown for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Cycling NZ chief executive Andrew Matheson says the World Cup event offers a unique chance for Kiwi riders to take on the best on the world on home ground.
"To be able to take this event on is enormous for our riders and staff, our fans, the people of Cambridge and for New Zealand."
The World Cup is likely to attract around 1000 competitors, staff, officials and media from over 40 countries.
It will be the biggest track cycling event staged in New Zealand since the junior track world championships in 1983 and 2012, and follows the successful staging of the BMX world championships in Auckland two years ago.
