The final 50 kilometres of the 114th edition features 9.5kms of gravel sectors as the peloton winds its way through the beautiful vineyards that dot the region near Tours, the gateway to the Loire valley.
The vineyard tracks were introduced to the race in 2018, with Sunweb's Søren Kragh Andersen the first to conquer the rough stuff. He returns once more to the race, fresh from two stage victories at the 2020 Tour de France and a win in the individual time trial at BinckBank Tour.
AG2R's Benoît Cosnefroy will also head to the start in Chartres after his gutsy efforts to stay in the polka dot jersey at the Tour de France and his strong second place at La Flèche Wallonne. Joining him is team mate and compatriot Romain Bardet in one of his last appearances for the French team before jumping to Sunweb next season.

Other contenders taking to the start include Valentin Madouas (Groupama-FDJ), Evaldas Siskevicius (Nippo Delko), Nacer Bouhanni (Arkea Samsic) and Bryan Coquard (B&B Hotels).
