Pirlo reportedly set for shock FFA Cup date against Sydney FC

Andrea Pirlo is reportedly set to sign a one-off appearance deal with Avondale FC for their upcoming FFA Cup quarter-final clash with Sydney FC.

The Victorian NPL side are currently in negotiations with the Italian legend over a sensational cameo in Wednesday night's Cup date, according to Fox Sports.

Pirlo, one of the greatest midfielders of all time, would be a major coup for Avondale, with the 39-year-old recently retired having spent the last three seasons with MLS outfit New York City FC.

With a FIFA World Cup to his name and decorated trophy cabinet at club level with AC Milan and Juventus, Il Metronomo figures to be an invaluable asset should the Avengers secure his signature.

This type of deal is not uncommon in the competition, with Greece international Kostas Katsouranis previously turning out for Heidelberg United in 2015.
