Italian newspaper Tuttosport, who were the first to break the Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus story, ran this Pogba claim on the front page of their Saturday edition.
They report the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner is determined to force a January exit from Manchester United as his relationship with manager Mourinho has deteriorated beyond repair.
A reunion with former coach Allegri and club Juve, with whom his rapport was always excellent, is said to be his first preference.
A day later, the UK's Sunday Express backed up the story and added that the 25-year-old has already informed Man United of his desire to leave, in a bid to give them plenty of time to search for a replacement.
Coincidentally, Juve and Man United have been drawn in the same UEFA Champions League group and will play against each other on 23 October (Old Trafford) and 7 November (Allianz Stadium).
Under new UEFA rules, the Frenchman would not be cup-tied in the competition if he changes clubs halfway through the season.
Pogba joined Juve from Man United on a free transfer as a teenager in 2012 after a lack of first team opportunities.
He flourished in Turin, quickly earning a starting XI place, establishing himself as one of world football's best young talents, and breaking into the senior France squad.
After four hugely successful years, Man United paid a then-world record fee of €105 million ($170m) to bring him back.
