Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has heaped praise on Australia's Aaron Mooy after his man-of-the-match performance for Huddersfield Town against Newcastle United in the Premier League.

Henry, arguably the Premier League's greatest ever player, described the former Melbourne City midfielder as "magic".

Mooy scored Huddersfield's only goal in their 1-0 victory, pushing the Terriers into second place on the Premier League table after they beat Crystal Palace 3-0 in their opening match.

Commenting on the goal and the match, the former FIFA World Cup winner with France was full of plaudits for the 26-year-old Socceroos star.

"We knew it was going to come from Aaron Mooy; thinking, magic, I like when a player thinks," Henry said.

"I thought he was solid with an idea of what he wanted to do. When he had to defend he did, when he had to create he did.

"When Mooy is going to receive the ball (in the lead up to the goal), can I make you believe that I'm going to shoot? Yes I can.

"The ball goes to (teammate Elias) Kachunga, ball comes back, (Mooy) uses (Newcastle's Ciaran) Clark as a shield, go around him, goal, composure, think, see, execute, go and get your ball back, compose yourself, bend it (the shot), 1-0, go and enjoy and celebrate it."

Mooy himself spoke post-match about the goal and Huddersfield's incredible start to life in the Premier League.

"It's been a great start so far, but you can't get carried away. It's very early in the season. Just got to keep working hard and try and improve," Mooy said.

"It's hard to describe (my feelings when scoring the goal). I'm very proud. It was a great day for everyone."

Henry was also full of praise for Mooy's shy man-of-the-match interview.

"I like his interview at the end (of the match). He was almost embarrassed being man of the match. Always talking about the team. Always talking about 'we'. It's nice to see that, he does his talking on the field," the Frenchman said.
