Premier League planning to resume in June - report

The Premier League is planning to continue the 2019-20 season on 8 June, according to reports.

The Times in the UK report the Premier League shared it's plan for a return to playing with shareholders last week.

It would kick off on 8 June, behind closed doors only at select "approved" venues, and be completed by 27 July.

The report claims the FA have been in discussions with the British government, who would have the final say, along with other national sporting bodies who are all looking to return as soon as possible.

Minimising the number of grounds used would reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19, and requirements for policing, medical services and testing.

There are 92 Premier League matches left to be played, with Liverpool just six points away from securing a first-league title in 30 years after what looked like being the best season ever.

22 August has also been touted as the start date for the next season (2020-21).

Several Premier League club officials have said abandoning the remainder of the season - as the Dutch Eredivisie has done - would be financially disastrous.

Most clubs have taken action to reduce the financial impact, with staff being furloughed and players having salary reductions.
