Richie Porte on the finer things in life

Richie Porte sat down with SBS' Mike Tomalaris before the Tour to discuss the finer things in life and how he feels about the next three weeks of the Tour de France.

Porte spoke about feeling a more relaxed this year, something he puts down to becoming a father for the first time. 

"Everyone wants to have that famous photo standing on the Champs on the podium to hang in their house. But I suppose that now my wife and my baby boy are the biggest things in my life not just cycling."

On Froome - his former teammate at Sky, and once close friend - and the 2017 winner's pre-Tour doping case mire, the Tasmanian gave a somewhat typically Australian response.

"We're not as close as we once were but he's had a fair bit of stuff going on."

Porte also successfully predicted how the fans would behave around the Brit. 

"It's going to be a tough Tour for him. Us Aussies we don't boo people do we? It's not the place for it but it's going to be hostile out there."
