Rogic helps Celtic land $1.6 million World Cup kitty

Tom Rogic's 2018 FIFA World Cup performances with the Socceroos have helped earn Celtic £923,791 (A$1.6 million) from FIFA as a reward for their commitment to football's showpiece event.

According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic's World Cup windfall came courtesy of Rogic, Dedryck Boyata, Mikael Lustig and Cristian Gamboa representing their respective countries in Russia.

In a bid "to recognise the contribution that football clubs make in the successful staging of the FIFA World Cup", FIFA rewarded affiliated Scottish Premiership clubs a total £1.2 million (A$2.1 million) on Wednesday (AEDT).

Fellow Socceroo Jamie Maclaren helped Hibernian pocket £92,654 (A$160,000) following his late call-up to Bert van Marwijk's squad, while Aberdeen earned £61,769 (A$107,242) for defender Kari Arnason's exploits with Iceland.

Though Australia's Mark Milligan and Martin Boyle both feature for Hibs, the Easter Road outfit - much like Celtic with Daniel Arzani - did not receive additional funds due to the pair arriving after the tournament.

However, Steven Gerrard's Rangers still received £141,188 (A$245,258) for Bruno Alves' involvement with Portugal, despite the 37-year-old signing for Parma in July.

Rogic, who started all three matches for the Socceroos in Russia, helped Celtic see off Arnason's Aberdeen in the Scottish League Cup final on Monday.
