The 33-year-old has spent the last five seasons with the Mariners after he linked with the club back in 2010, making 147 appearances along the way.

His time at the club has seen the Mariners win one A-League grand final and one Premiers' Plate.

Entering the twilight of his career, Rose is simply looking to remain fit over the next two seasons and help continue to work with the Mariners' much-vaunted youth players.

"My main aim over the next two years will be to look at keeping myself as fit as possible and making sure I am available for selection every week. If I can do that, I think I'll do as much as I can to help the team," Rose said.

Central Coast boss Phil Moss praised the Queenslander's effort and commitment to the club as a major part of Rose getting the extension.

"It's fantastic news. He's a big part of my plan for the team moving forward and he is a great professional," Moss said.

"I think one of the most important things about 'Rosey' is that he knows the philosophy of the club, to bring some young players through, and he's willing to help in that regard. It's a very important piece of the jigsaw.

"Young kids don't develop unless they have good experience around them. The key is getting the balance right between youth and experience."

The Mariners are currently languishing four points outside the top six and have won just two games this season from 14 outings.

It is expected that Moss will try and further bolster his squad during the Asian Cup break.
