Season 2 of Sportswoman shines light on exceptional female athletes

Dedicated to promoting women's sport, the Sportswoman series returns on SBS to showcase the inspiring stories and achievements of the world's best female athletes making their mark.

With the first instalment of the series featuring athletes like Serena Williams and champion Aussies Ash Barty and Stephanie Gilmore, season two promises to continue in the same vein with stories of commitment, courage and triumph from around the globe.

All episodes of Sportswoman will be available on SBS On Demand, with the first two also broadcast this Saturday, March 12 on SBS.

Episode 1 - Emma Raducanu, Tennis

Teenage sensation Emma Raducanu had one of the greatest debut years in tennis history last year, winning the US Open Women's singles title in just her second appearance at a major tournament. The Canadian-born Brit put the world on notice as she won 10 matches in a row without dropping a set at just 18 years old.

With a Grand Slam already under her belt, and immense skill and talent, Raducanu is well on her way to becoming an influential figure for tennis fans and young women around the world.

Episode 2 - Simone Biles, Gymnastics

A four-time Olympic gold medallist, Simone Biles rose to prominence in the last decade to become one of the greatest ever gymnasts, breaking a host of records throughout her career to date. The American has overcome much adversity to achieve her goals, with her latest hurdle coming when she was forced to withdraw from the majority of her events at the postponed Tokyo Olympics last year due to mental health issues.

While she has done so much in competition, Biles' story highlights her influence outside the sporting sphere, with her courageous decision sparking a wider discussion on the immense pressure placed on athletes to perform and it's concerning impact on their mental health.
