Hamsik struck against Torino in the 71st minute to make it 2-1, during Sunday's (AEST) Serie A clash, and then proceeded to do the iconic statue-like pose.
Asked about it after the match, the Serie A star confirmed it was inspired by 84-time Socceroo Bresciano.
"I celebrated Bresciano style. He celebrated every goal that way," Hamsik said.
While never teammates, Hamsik and Bresciano faced each other seven times in Serie A when the Australian was at Palermo and then later at Lazio, in a period from 2007 until 2011.
The match between Napoli and Torino finished 2-2 as Hamsik recorded his seventh goal of the campaign from central midfield.
