The Gold Coast product has had a breakthrough season playing for Livingstone in the Scottish Premier League scoring 12 goals in 33 games for the Lions.

His form has caught the attention of Socceroos boss Graham Arnold but also Scotland coach Steve Clarke, with both recently meeting with the young front man to discuss his national team allegiance.

It is believed Dykes was in-line to be called up for Australia's World Cup qualifiers against Nepal and Kuwait.

However, Clarke intervened to try and sway him to pick Scotland who he is eligible for through his parents.

While the coronavirus outbreak has thrown the football calendar into disarray, it has bought time for Dykes to make his final decision.

The 24-year-old told the Scottish Sun he is excited about his future in international future no matter what side it is for.

“I have spoken to the two managers but nothing is decided as of yet," he said.

"I speak to my wife and family and at the end of the day it comes down to what you think is best for you and your family.

“The future is hopefully going to be exciting with an international side.

“People talk about a tug-of-war between Scotland and Australia but the coronavirus has put a halt to everything, as it is far more important.”
