Socceroos set for long-awaited Brisbane return

The Socceroos are set to make their long awaited return to Brisbane when Graham Arnold's side take on South Korea at Suncorp Stadium on November 17.

The clash will be the first time in more than three years the Queensland capital has hosted an Australia fixture with the national team's last visit to the river city coming in January 2015 for an Asian Cup group stage clash against South Korea 

The match will be the first game of Arnold's second stint as Socceroos boss and will be an important warm-up game ahead of the 2019 Asian Cup in the United Arab Emirates

Arnold was in Brisbane for the official announcement of the match and said it would be a major test for Australia ahead of their Asian Cup title defence in January.

“To have the opportunity to play a team of the calibre of Korea Republic at home six weeks before the start of the AFC Asian Cup is perfect for our preparations,” said Arnold.

“Australia has a long football history with Korea Republic, so hopefully we’ll see the sold-out sign go up at Suncorp Stadium for this match,” concluded Arnold.

The clash will be the 29th time the Socceroos have faced off against South Korea with their last match being Australia's historic 2-1 Asian Cup victory at ANZ Stadium in 2015.
