Song out of a coma and breathing unassisted

Former Cameroon captain and Liverpool defender Rigobert Song's condition has improved after it was announced he is out of a coma and breathing on his own after suffering a cerebral aneurysm on Sunday.

The 40-year-old retired from football in 2010 after a 17-year career, which included 137 caps with Cameroon, will be transferred to France for more specialised treatment.

As news filtered through of the initial aneurysm, Song's former team-mates were full of well wishes.
