The 25-year-old said he did not know if his brother or cousin were behind the wheel of his $120,000 Mercedes-AMG.
It had been clocked by speed cameras driving at 95mph (152 kph) on a dual carriageway and twice driving at 60mph (97 kph) in a temporary 40mph (64 kph) speed limit.
Lemina pleaded guilty to three counts of failing to notify Hampshire Police after ignoring their letters requesting he identify who was driving, and the three speeding charges were dropped.
He was handed a massive £96,000 ($172,000) at Aldershot Magistrates’ Court yesterday – which is three times his £32,272-a-week ($57,791 AUD) pay.
He is now banned from driving for a year, after accumulating enough points to warrant the massive suspension.
The Gabonese footballer did not appear in court himself, with his lawyer, Cliff Morris, representing him at Aldershot Magistrate's court.
“He didn’t realise the importance of the forms," said Morris.
“English is not his first language, and his English is not particularly good.
“He is not sure if his brother or his cousin was driving the vehicle at the time and the photographs don’t assist with this.
"He thought it best to plead guilty to failing to provide identification."
Southampton FC have stated that they “will be discussing the matter” with Lemina.
The central midfielder signed for the Saints for a club record £15.4 million ($28 million AUD) last season from Juventus.
