Storey misses women’s world hour record

Sarah Storey, the first women to attempt the UCI World Hour record under its revised technical rules, fell short of the old women’s mark set by Leontien Zijlaard-van Moorsel in 2003.

Storey, an 11-time Paralympic champion rode 45.502km in the London Velodrome to miss distance of van Moorsel's 46.065km by 563 metres.

While she may have missed the able-bodied record, the 37-year-old Storey did establish a new Paralympian C5 best with the attempt.
