Sydney striker Corey shoots cheeky proposal to Bouchard

Sydney FC forward Corey Gameiro appears to have been spending his time rehabilitating from his knee injury by fantasising about a future with a professional tennis star.

Canadian darling of the Australian Open, Eugenie Bouchard, has certainly caught his attention, so much he was compelled to propose to her on Twitter post-her straight sets quarter-final loss to Maria Sharapova.

The two appear to be a perfect match. Both born in February, just a year apart (Gameiro in 1993 and Bouchard in 1994), both athletic and driven by their respective sports, and both with the youthful good looks that might have sponsors salivating were they ever to hit it off.

With Cristiano Ronaldo and Irina Shayk now officially broken up, surely it's what the world is craving right now.

We await a response from Bouchard to the proposal and, at the same time, we hope Gameiro is not put off by rumours of her dating hockey hulk Alex Galchenyuk, the Montreal Canadiens centre, interestingly also born in February 1994.

But hey, that was a year ago, so we're sure it's melted away like Gameiro's heart probably will when he sees this tweet from Bouchard, 'chillin like a villain', whatever that means.

Let's also hope local reporter Ian Cohen has given the Australian male a bad name with his inappropriate request for a twirl after Bouchard beat Kiki Bertens on Channel 7 last week.

The gentlemanly tone of Gamiero's proposal has surely turned any negatives into a positive, although it seems Bouchard has already let that embarrassing moment for Australian broadcasting slide like water off a duck's back.
