Taggart may be on way as Brisbane ponder Korea offer

Brisbane Roar are weighing up an offer for striker Adam Taggart from an unnamed top-tier club in the Korea Republic.

The K League transfer window doesn’t close until March 22, and it’s understood that Brisbane are willing to release the 25-year-old former Perth Glory gun, even though he has 15 months still to run on his two-year deal.

That, though, may be contingent in sourcing a replacement to see out the rest of the season.

Taggart - who netted 20 goals in 38 games for Glory - has struck 11 times in 18 appearances for Brisbane, and his firepower would be missed, with the club’s other strikers managing just six goals between them.

Brisbane, however, could decide that with the finals already out of sight Taggart would be dispensable, amid rumours of unease between him and club management.

There are two Australians currently based in Korea: Connor Chapman at Pohang Steelers and Bernie Ibini-Isei, who recently joined Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors.

The new K League 1 season kicks off on March 3.
