The 2016 field for the race will feature 12 UCI WorldTour teams, including Australia's Orica-GreenEDGE, and six UCI ProContinental teams.
SBS will broadcast the race live on Saturday 5 March from 11:45pm AEDT to 1:45am AEDT (Live to the Eastern States)
The 2016 course runs 176km and will feature 52.8km of gravel roads over nine sectors before the finish in Siena's Piazza del Campo.
The twisty and undulating course has no long climbs but is regularly punctuated with punchy hills, most significantly on the unpaved parts.
