The five-week plan to complete Premier League season

The Premier League season could come to a close within five frantic weeks once the English football season resumes.

With 92 games remaining in the 2019-20 season, the plan would see each team play a minimum of two games a week over 35 days, according to The Telegraph.

The Premier League is believed to be monitoring the Bundesliga's careful return to training despite the coronavirus pandemic, with all 18 clubs working in small groups in preparation for 90-minute matches next month.

A similar approach in England could see the season resume in June, though matches will likely take place behind closed doors until November.

The five-week plan is set to be discussed during a conference call between the 20 clubs on Saturday (AEST) and will be dependant on the UK government's imminent decision surrounding restrictions.

Should the plan come to fruition, clubs will likely honour the home-and-away format as opposed to neutral venues, with discussions ongoing as to whether matches can be televised.

Liverpool currently lead the Premier League after 29 games, 25 points clear of defending champions Manchester City and two victories away from mathematically clinching the title.
