A-League clubs have done the bulk of their major player signings ahead of the new season. There will be some more to come but most squads have taken shape with pre-season training having begun ahead of the season kicking off in October.
So who are the best 10 buys?
Who should be at the top of the list? There are no right and wrong answers - it is all a matter of opinion - but you may be surprised by my top pick. Here goes:
10. ANTE COVIC (Western Sydney Wanderers to Perth Glory)
He struggled a bit when the Wanderers were enduring a ridiculously hectic schedule due to Asian Champions League games on top of the A-League last season, but finished the season well. He is 40 now, but his self-belief is incredible. He says he'll make it work and I'm not one to doubt him.
9. MITCH NICHOLS (Cerezo Osaka to Western Sydney Wanderers)
Hasn't been able to settle at one club for long since his days at Brisbane Roar, so we're going to have to wait and see if he fits Wanderers and vice versa. There's no denying his ability on the ball. Hopefully, he can produce consistently good form, because the Wanderers really need it from him.
8. NIGEL BOOGAARD (Adelaide United to Newcastle Jets)
Let's face it, Newcastle needs all the good players it can get as it tries to drag itself out of the mire in the post-Nathan Tinkler era. Boogaard often treads a fine line with his tackling, but his presence in the middle of the back four will immediately make it harder for the opposition to score.
7. IACOPO LA ROCCA (Western Sydney Wanderers to Adelaide United)
Adelaide has got its share of skilled playmakers. It will do them good to have a hard man like La Rocca stationed ahead of the back four. But he's not just a hard man - he's got the ability to go forward and connect with team-mates and also score the occasional goal.
6 SCOTT JAMIESON (Perth Glory to Western Sydney Wanderers)
Specialist left-backs with genuine quality are not easy to find and a Wanderers team that needed revamping after last season's struggles had no problem fitting Jamieson in. It's a great fit for him as well, being a product of Sydney's west. He'll get the way the team plays, what the club is all about and he's a passionate, heart-on-the-sleeve type who should quickly become a favourite of the fans.
5 COREY GAMEIRO (Sydney FC to Melbourne City)
He is recovering from a knee reconstruction, so we'll need to give him a bit of time to regain full confidence, but he's young and determined so hopefully it won't be long before he's scoring goals regularly.
Gameiro is versatile. He can play at the top of the attack, or a little bit deeper and wider. Aaron Mooy is one of the most creative midfielders in the A-League and should be able to establish a great combination with him.
4. JAMIE MACLAREN (Perth Glory to Brisbane Roar)
Brisbane was already developing some young attackers with goal-scoring prowess, but it was a no-brainer to take the opportunity to sign Maclaren. He should enjoy running on to through balls from Thomas Broich.
Playing off the bench behind first-choice Andy Keogh at Glory last season, Maclaren was always ready to make an impact when he came on and after being given the chance as a regular starter alongside Keogh late in the season he finished with a flurry of goals.
3. DANNY VUKOVIC (Perth Glory to Melbourne Victory)
Arguably the best goalkeeper in the A-League last season, although he was included on the bench behind Adelaide United's Eugene Galekovic in the Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) team of the year as voted on by the players. Vukovic's shot-stopping in a Glory side that would have played in the finals, had the club not been found guilty of having cheated the salary cap and penalised, was extraordinary at times.
2. IVAN FRANJIC (Torpedo Moscow to Melbourne City)
It's a big plus for City and the A-League that Franjic's Russian club, Torpedo Moscow, was slack in paying his wages. The Socceroos defender who can get forward and that will add considerably to City's attacking options as well as strengthen it at the back. Franjic knows what it takes to win titles from his days at Brisbane Roar and he will be a tremendous addition to a club that is on the rise.
1. ANDREW HOOLE (Newcastle Jets to Sydney FC)
Sydney FC coach Graham Arnold was licking his lips in anticipation about getting hold of this guy. Hoole, 21, is one of those gifted attacking players who, when the ball is at his feet, looks like he has got more time to do something with it than the vast majority of those around him.
He can supply beautiful through balls for the players ahead of him in the box or run the ball himself. Needs to become more adept at goal-scoring, but he's got the right coach to help him with that. Will immediately become a very important player at a high-profile club. The blue sky is the limit for this Sky Blue.
Tomorrow - the top 10 player losses in the A-League. Who should rate top there? Nathan Burns? Mark Milligan? Marc Janko?
