'They would have already killed' Pochettino and Klopp in Italy, says Mancini

Italy manager Roberto Mancini believes Italian clubs lack the patience to let good coaches succeed.

Mancini, who won the Premier League while coaching Manchester City, pointed to Liverpool's Klopp and Tottenham's Pochettino as examples of coaches being given enough time and faith to build great teams - despite going multiple seasons without winning silverware.

“We exaggerate things in Italy,” Mancini told Tutto Convocati. “Let’s take this example: Pochettino has been at Tottenham for five years, he has a very good team.

“Tottenham have spent a lot and, in five years, still haven’t won anything.

"In Italy, they would have already killed the poor man.

“Instead he is still there, trying to improve the team every year so they can win things.

“The Champions League is not so simple, otherwise we would have won it many times. It’s never easy to win.

“Klopp is another one - he has been at Liverpool for three years but again risks not winning anything, despite them having an exciting season.”

As a manager, Mancini has won the FA Cup as well as the league while at City, three consecutive Serie A titles and two Coppas Italia with Inter Milan, two other Coppas with Fiorentina and Lazio, and the Turkish Cup with Galatasaray.
