Dalot, who grew up in the north of Portugal, used his first pay cheque from the Premier League giants to pay for the bus.

The 19-year-old joined United in June 2018 from Porto where he had been since he was nine-years-old.

However, prior to that he played for Fintas Football School in Braga, and when he made his move to Porto the local team never received compensation.

Luís Travassos, coordinator of the institution, explained how grateful he was for the gift.

"To us, an institution with so many financial problems and so little resources, the gift was enormous," said Travassos.

"Every bit of help we receive is wonderful.

"We spoke to Diogo by Skype. He was on the (Manchester United) coach on his way to the match.

"He told us to go outside, where we found a bus for the club.

"It was certainly a shock! He prepared everything secretly, and saved a part of his first salary in England for the surprise.
