Victory re-signs Ben Khalfallah for two more seasons

Melbourne Victory has re-signed influential playmaker Fahid Ben Khalfallah to a two-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2016-2017 season.

Ben Khalfallah, recruited to Melbourne Victory at the start of 2014-2015 Hyundai A-League season on a one-year contract, has proven to be a revelation in his inaugural season.

The 32-year-old has played 25 of the club’s 26 matches to date scoring five goals and providing nine assists throughout the season.

Prior to moving to Australia, the 32 year-old French-born Tunisian had played all his senior football in France beginning at Amiens in 2001 and ending with Troyes in 2014 before signing with Victory.

Melbourne's football operations manager Paul Trimboli was delighted to retain a player of Ben Khalfallah's ability with the 14-times capped Tunisia ace in the running to be named the Johnny Warren Medal and SBS's Les Murray Medal winner this season.

“Fahid brings so much to Melbourne Victory on and off the pitch,” Trimboli said.

“The impact he has made since his arrival at the club has been significant and we see him as an integral part of our future plans. Therefore it was a priority for us to secure him and we are thrilled to get his signature.”

Ben Khalfallah was also thrilled to extend his stay at Victory after attracting the attentions of rival A-League clubs.

“The club has been so supportive to me and my family since we have been in Australia and I love Melbourne, so Melbourne Victory was the only club I wanted to play for,” he said.

“The players here are so close and are fantastic to play with so I am really looking forward to the next two years.”
