'Wage thief' - Wednesday fans take aim at Luongo

Sheffield Wednesday fans took to social media on Thursday to express their dissatisfaction with the continued absence of summer signing Massimo Luongo.

Wednesday manager Garry Monk revealed the Socceroos midfielder would not feature in his side's midweek Championship clash with Charlton Athletic, telling the Sheffield Star: "Massimo still has another week or so."

The 27-year-old has now missed eight matches for the Owls due to a lingering groin injury, with his last appearance coming in a 5-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers last month.

Luongo's predicament has since frustrated expectant fans, with some supporters labelling him a "wage thief" and "made of glass" ahead of Thursday's eventual 1-0 win at Hillsborough.

There had been high hopes surrounding his August arrival from Queens Park Rangers, but it appears supporters are now losing their patience.

Wednesday currently sit 12th in the league, eight points outside the final playoff spot, and will next face Derby County on Sunday (AEDT).
