Uruguay Stats
· Uruguay are guaranteed to qualify for the knockout phase if they win AND Korea Republic fail to beat Portugal. If Uruguay and Korea Republic both win, goal difference (then goals scored) will decide who joins Portugal in the round of last 16.

· Uruguay were eliminated in the group stage in only one of their last six World Cup appearances. They finished third in their group behind Denmark and Senegal in 2002.

· Uruguay are one of four teams to have reached the knockout phase at each of the last three World Cups (2010, 2014, 2018), alongside Argentina, Brazil and Mexico.

· This is the first time Uruguay have failed to score in both of their opening two matches of a World Cup. The only South American team to fail to score in a World Cup first group stage is Bolivia in 1930 (two games) and 1950 (one game). Note: Peru also did this in the 1978 second group stage (three games).

· Uruguay have equalled the team record of failing to score in three successive World Cup matches, set from 1986 to 1990.

· Uruguay have not lost their final match of a World Cup group stage since a 3-0 defeat versus Sweden in 1974.

· Diego Godín, Edinson Cavani and Fernando Muslera (all 16) are Uruguay's joint-leading World Cup appearance makers, one ahead of Luis Suárez (15).

· Suárez (7) is one short of equalling Oscar Míguez (8) as Uruguay's leading World Cup goalscorer. Míguez netted five in 1950 and three in 1954.

· Suárez and Cavani hold the record of scoring for Uruguay at three World Cups. The pair have both netted at the tournaments in 2010, 2014 and 2018.

· Suárez entered this World Cup as a player of Nacional, although his contract is running out. He has already scored World Cup goals as a player of Ajax (2010), Liverpool (2014) and FC Barcelona (2018). The only player to have netted World Cup goals while under contract at four different clubs is Miroslav Klose (1. FC Kaiserslautern, Werder Bremen, FC Bayern München, SS Lazio).

· Mathías Olivera, Martín Cáceres and Rodrigo Bentancur will be suspended if booked.

Ghana Stats
· Ghana are guaranteed to qualify for the knockout phase if they A) win OR B) draw AND Korea Republic fail to beat Portugal. If Ghana draw and Korea Republic win, goal difference (then goals scored) will decide who joins Portugal in the round of last 16.

· In their three previous World Cup participations, Ghana were only eliminated in the group stage in 2014. They reached the round of last 16 in 2006 and the quarter-finals in 2010.

· Ghana can equal Nigeria's (1994, 1998, 2014) African record of reaching the knockout phase at the World Cup three times.

· Ghana can win back-to-back World Cup fixtures for the second time, after victories over Czechia and USA in the group stage in 2006.

· Only Spain (8), France (6), England (6) and Portugal (5) scored as many goals as Ghana (5) in the first two matchrounds of the 2022 World Cup.

· Ghana (61st) are the lowest ranked nation in the FIFA world rankings among all 32 teams at the 2022 World Cup. This century, only in 2018 did the lowest-ranked country qualify for the knockout phase: hosts Russia (70th).

· Ghana have conceded multiple goals in each of their last five World Cup fixtures. Only three countries have recorded longer streaks: Mexico (9, 1930-1958), Switzerland (7, 1954-1966) and Sweden (6, 1938-1950).

· André Ayew (9) can become the second player to reach double figures in World Cup appearances for Ghana, after Asamoah Gyan (11).

· Mohammed Kudus became the first player to score multiple goals for Ghana in a single World Cup match in their 3-2 victory over Korea Republic. Only Asamoah Gyan (6) and André Ayew (3) have netted more World Cup goals for Ghana than Kudus (2).

· Tariq Lamptey, Alidu Seidu, Daniel Amartey, André Ayew, Mohammed Kudus and Iñaki Williams will be suspended if booked.

Head-to-Head: Ghana v Uruguay
· The only match between Ghana and Uruguay was in Johannesburg in the quarter-finals of the 2010 World Cup. Uruguay won 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw after extra time.

· That game went into extra time after goals by Sulley Muntari (45+2') and Diego Forlán (55'). Ghana came within inches of becoming the first African team to reach the World Cup semi-finals, but Asamoah Gyan's 122nd-minute penalty (awarded after Luis Suárez was sent off for deliberate handball on the goalline) hit the bar. Gyan did convert his spot-kick in the shootout, but teammates John Mensah and Dominic Adiyiah had their efforts saved by Fernando Muslera, allowing Sebastián Abreu to "Panenka" the South Americans into the last four.

· Ghana's only other World Cup match versus CONMEBOL opposition was a 3-0 defeat against Brazil in Dortmund in the 2006 round of last 16 (goals by Ronaldo, Adriano and Zé Roberto, and the Black Stars had Asamoah Gyan sent off).

· Uruguay have played three other World Cup games against African opposition: a 3-3 draw versus Senegal in Suwon in the 2002 group stage (they were 3-0 down at half-time), a 3-0 win against South Africa in Pretoria in the 2010 group stage and a 1-0 victory versus Egypt in Yekaterinburg in the 2018 group stage (89th-minute goal by José María Giménez).

· Abdul Fatawu Issahaku is a teammate of Sebastián Coates and Manuel Ugarte at Sporting CP.

Portugal Stats
· Portugal were one of three teams to secure their place in the knockout phase after the opening two matchrounds in Qatar, alongside France and Brazil.

· Portugal have progressed to the knockout phase in five of their eight appearances at the World Cup (including 2022). The only one of the last five World Cups they did not advance from the group stage was 2014 under Paulo Bento.

· Portugal can win all three group stage matches at a single World Cup for the third time, after 1966 and 2006. They reached the semi-finals in both of those tournaments (third in 1966, fourth in 2006).

· Portugal lost only one of their last 14 World Cup group stage games (W8-D5-L1), a 4-0 defeat against Germany in 2014 under Paulo Bento.

· Bruno Fernandes netted his first two World Cup goals against Uruguay. Three players have scored more than two group stage goals for Portugal at a single World Cup: Cristiano Ronaldo (4 in 2018), Eusébio (3 in 1966) and Pauleta (3 in 2002).

· In the opening two matchrounds of the 2022 World Cup, only Kylian Mbappé (3 goals, 1 assist) recorded as many direct goal involvements as Fernandes (2 goals, 2 assists).

· Fernando Santos was Greece manager when they were beaten 2-0 by Korea Republic in a friendly in Piraeus on 5 March 2014 (including a goal by Son Heung-min).

· Cristiano Ronaldo (8) is one short of equalling Eusébio (9) as Portugal's leading World Cup goalscorer.

· Bruno Fernandes, Rúben Dias, Danilo Pereira, Rúben Neves and João Félix will be suspended if booked.

Korea Republic Stats
· For Korea Republic to have a chance of reaching the knockout phase, they must win this match AND Ghana fail to beat Uruguay. If the Koreans win and the other game is drawn or won by Uruguay, goal difference (then goals scored) will decide who joins Portugal in the round of last 16.

· Korea Republic were eliminated in the group stage in eight of their 10 previous World Cup appearances. The two exceptions were 2002 (finished fourth as co-hosts) and 2010 (eliminated in the round of last 16).

· Korea Republic won three of their seven World Cup games on home soil as co-hosts in 2002 (W3-D2-L2, match decided by a penalty shootout classed as a draw). They have won three of their other 29 World Cup fixtures (W3-D8-L18).

· Cho Gue-sung became the first player to score multiple goals for Korea Republic in a single World Cup match in their 3-2 defeat against Ghana. No player has netted more than two goals for Korea Republic at a single World Cup.

· Son Heung-min is Korea Republic's joint-leading World Cup goalscorer, alongside Park Ji-Sung and Ahn Jung-Hwan (all 3). Only Park (2002, 2006, 2010) has netted at more World Cups for the Koreans than Son (2014, 2018).

· Son is joint-fourth alongside Kim Jae-Han (both 35) in Korea Republic's all-time leading goalscorers. The top three are Cha Bum-Keun (58), Hwang Sun-Hong (50) and Park Lee-Chun (40).

· Hwang Hee-chan (49) is one short of 50 appearances for Korea Republic.

· Paulo Bento was eliminated in both of his World Cups for Portugal: as a player in 2002 (all three games were played in Korea Republic) and as manager in 2014 (missed out on the knockout phase on goal difference).

· At the 2022 World Cup, Bento was shown a yellow card against Uruguay and a red card versus Ghana.

· Kim Young-gwon, Jung Woo-young and Cho Gue-sung will be suspended if booked.

· The only match between Korea Republic and Portugal was in Incheon in the group stage of the 2002 World Cup. The co-hosts won 1-0 through a goal by Park Ji-Sung (70') after a Portugal team including Paulo Bento had João Pinto (27') and Beto (66') sent off.

· Portugal were unbeaten in each of their other four World Cup games versus opposition from the Asian Football Confederation (W3-D1-L0), including wins against Korea DPR in the 1966 quarter-finals (5-3 after trailing 3-0, including four goals by Eusébio) and 2010 group stage (7-0, Portugal's biggest World Cup victory).

· This is the second time two Portuguese managers have been in opposition in a World Cup match, after a 1-1 draw between Portugal (Fernando Santos) and IR Iran (Carlos Queiroz) in the 2018 group stage.

· Fernando Santos was Greece manager when they drew 0-0 in a friendly against Paulo Bento's Portugal in Oeiras on 31 May 2014. Santos replaced Bento in charge of Portugal less than four months later.
