Dancer Emma Portner has opened up about her marriage to actor Ellen Page, admitting that she still cries when Page leaves home for work.

Speaking to Them, 24-year-old Portner reflected on the pair's relationship one year on from their wedding, saying they share an “indefatigable connection and this undying desire to be near each other.”

“It cannot ever be perfect, but we really respect each other. Love can’t flow without respect," the Canadian choreographer said.
She added: “Ellen is the best, and I still cry every time we part ways for work. I probably will forever, and I’m okay with that.”

Page has previously discussed the couple's special connection, telling The New York Times that they were "instantly transfixed" with one another when they met.

“I thought, damn, this girl is so talented and so cool,” Page said.

“I knew right away we were both creative spirits.”

In her interview with Them, Portner also chatted about her work in the dance world, admitting that it "still needs more diversity".

"The aspects of me that people wanted to erase when I was younger are now my assets, and the more that I can embrace this, the deeper my work feels,” she said.
