The current number one women's tennis player, Naomi Osaka, recently tweeted: "Note to my introverted 13 year old self : in about 10 years you’re finally going to open your mouth and it will trigger more people than you could’ve ever imagined".

She provided no further explanation on the tweet but many on social media were taken by her words because of how the young tennis star is using her platform to highlight a number of social justice causes.
Many believed this tweet was in reference to Osaka speaking out for the Black Lives Matters (BLM) movement.
It was during this year's US Open that Osaka took a stance in regards to the BLM protests happening around the US by wearing seven different masks to each of her matches, featuring the names of Breonna Taylor, Elijah McClain, Ahmaud Arbery, Trayvon Martin, George Floyd, Philando Castile, and Tamir Rice.
When asked about her BLM activism, Osaka mentioned "I do think it’s a very big motivating factor for me."

However her stance on Black Lives Matters hasn't received the same positive response in her birthplace of Japan.

And it was this that many believed was what Osaka was referencing with her tweet.
But it was also the fact that Osaka was challenging her natural introverted tendencies to speak out that some on Twitter applauded.
For many introverted tennis fans, Osaka has been an inspiration.
But what most Twitter users could agree on was that 13-year-old Naomi Osaka would be very proud of her present self.
