From the ashes of toxic masculinity (well, it's not dead yet, but here's hoping) has risen Clarke Gayford, partner of New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, who we think could be the ideal poster boy for the modern man in 2018.

It would be hear impossible for Ardern to have returned to work so quickly after the birth of their daughter Neve, without the support of fishing TV show presenter Gayford. Imagine the things other working women could achieve if they had partners like Gayford backing them?

Let us count the ways Gayford is setting the standard for modern men.

1. He’s a loud supporter of Ardern

2. He’s not afraid of changing a nappy

3. He loves the environment

4. He grew a beard and loves craft beer

5. He’s funny, or at least tries to be…

6. He corresponds with the people of New Zealand

7. He's not too hung up on formalities

8. HE HOLDS HIS WIFE TIGHT AT NIGHT!
